Ability, Bravery & Courage
The house is named in the honour of Lieutenant General P.S. Bhagat, PVSM, VC. He was also known as "The Soldiers' General". Born on 13th Oct. 1918 he did his schooling from RIMC, Dehradun. He was Commissioned in the year 1939 after passing out from IMA, Dehradun. He led the Engineers Corps and was bestowed with Victoria Cross, Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM).
Higher, Faster, Stronger
The house is named in honour of Field Marshal S.H.F.J. Manekshaw, MC — the hero of the 1971 war with Pakistan and Chief of Army Staff from 1969 to 1973. Born on 3rd April 1914 in Amritsar, he studied at Sherwood College, Nainital, and was commissioned in 1934 from IMA Dehradun. He led 08 Gorkha Rifles and was awarded the Military Cross and Padma Vibhushan.
Live to Serve
The house is named in honour of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, OBE, the first Indian Commander-in-Chief and Chief of Army Staff (15 June 1949 – 14 Jan 1953). Born on 28 Jan 1900 in Madikeri, Coorg, he studied at Central High School, Madikeri, Presidency College, Madras, and RMC Sandhurst. Commissioned in 1918, he led the Rajput Regiment (Infantry) and was awarded 'Officer of the Order of the British Empire'.
Duty Before Pleasure
The house is named in honour of General K.S. Thimayya, DSO, India’s ‘Most Popular General’. Chief of Army Staff from 8th May 1957 to 7th May 1961, he was born on 31st March 1906 in Mercara, Coorg. Educated at St. Joseph's College, Coonoor, PWRIMC Dehradun, and RMC Sandhurst, he was commissioned in 1926, led the Kumaon Regiment, and was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (DSO).
