My heartiest felicitations to the Army Public School, Bhopal on the launch of its website. In this era of technology driven world, information plays a vital role in determining the success of any venture, be it business or war. More importantly this information if accessed and processed speedily would add the extra punch to the outcome of the undertaken venture. The schools of today must gear themselves and prepare for the challenges of the future. The website is one such concrete step in this direction and I hope that the school continues on the path of glory with similar steadfast and confident steps. Let this not be the end, but a means to the end, of imparting education and spreading the light of knowledge to ensure that the prodigies of the Army School lead the nation towards a better and strong nation.

Leading with Vision: A Note from Our Principal

Army Public School Bhopal

Education is not confined to textbooks; it is a journey of character formation and the cultivation of values that guide us through life. Knowledge empowers us, but values provide direction. Without them, even the brightest intellect may falter.

Our epics remind us of this eternal truth. In the Ramayan, Lord Rama, revered as Maryada Purushottam, placed truth and duty above personal comfort. A timeless shloka teaches:

“सत्यं ब्रूयात् प्रियं ब्रूयात्, न ब्रूयात् सत्यमप्रियम्।
प्रियं च नानृतं ब्रूयात्, एष धर्मः सनातनः॥”

(Speak the truth in a pleasant way; never speak a hurtful truth, and never utter sweet lies. This is eternal duty.)

This underlines that truth must be tempered with kindness. In school life, it translates into honesty in one’s work, respect in speech, and integrity in conduct.

The Mahabharat further emphasizes:
“अहिंसा परमो धर्मः।”
(Non-violence is the highest duty.)

Non-violence extends beyond refraining from physical conflict; it also calls for respect for differences, resolving disagreements peacefully, and using words with care.

History reinforces these lessons. Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw displayed courage and responsibility when he refused to risk soldiers’ lives unprepared during the 1971 war. General K. M. Cariappa, India’s first Commander-in-Chief, upheld fairness when his own son was captured in the 1965 war, insisting he be treated like every other prisoner of war. Globally, General Dwight Eisenhower, before the D-Day operation, accepted full responsibility in case of failure—demonstrating that true leadership is defined by accountability.

These examples affirm that greatness lies not only in strength, but in honesty, fairness, and compassion.

Within our school, values are nurtured not only in lessons but in daily actions—helping peers, standing against injustice, and caring for the environment. Teachers and parents may guide, but the true measure of values lies in students’ choices and behavior.

Let us remember: academic success brings recognition, but values earn lasting respect. As the Mahabharat reminds us:
“धर्मेण हीनाः पशुभिः समानाः।”
(Without righteousness, humans are no better than animals.)

May our school always remain a place where knowledge is enriched with values—where honesty, kindness, courage, and respect shine in every learner. With wisdom in the mind and values in the heart, our students will grow into not only accomplished professionals but also noble human beings and responsible citizens.
